I never trusted in ICQ

I was reading Rocky Oliver’s weblog entry ICQ no more and remembered that when it came out I was tempted to get an ICQ id but I was really concerned about the security of it and that it offered some functionalities targeted for “kids” (I’ll probably talk later about what that means for me).
I never trusted on it and never needed it, and looks like I did the right choice.

For sure there are better and newer choices than the “old” IM tools, so you may start to try one of those.

Rootkits, Sony, DRM, something in common?

The information in Mark’s Sysinternals Blog just surprised me, I think that his post about “Sony, Rootkits and Digital Rights Management Gone Too Far” is showing us that effectively things have gone so far.

People don’t like thinks like that, unless we all get nuts which isn’t far from reality :-) , but the worst thing in here is that it just makes things easier for “real” criminals.
Be sure to read the entire post and its comments, lots of interesting information in there.

Template modification, so far so good

I managed to modify my weblog template as I wanted, or almost as I wanted, the building image at the top has an specific size that didn’t let me increase the size of the central portion below it, I wanted to have more room for each entries’ text. I know I can enlarge it but won’t look normal, you know, not that it looks pretty good but I liked it, it somehow resembles the preference that I have for the life in the city than the country (rural areas).
Of course I do like the forest, jungle, beach, sand, etc., but what I like a lot is technology and there’s more technology in the city.

And returning to the image thing, I applied a trick that I liked from Luis Suarez’s LSR weblog (well, that’s actually his previous/old weblog, he has now moved to elsua) default template, which is to have the link to the main weblog page over the image .

Maybe some months later I’ll be modifying it again, but I like how it looks right now.
