Pride: What a shame

Some hours ago I read this post and it’s sad and unfortunate that when pride and you-know-who reign in your soul it’s obvious that you won’t believe in anything, in fact I have seen and heard people that say they are god. Success, happiness and wisdom are essential things that do not agree with pride and intelligence very much. Wisdom is something that only God can give you, unfortunately almost no one deserves it these days. And it shows.

I really feel sorry.

Myers-Briggs Personality Type

I saw a blog post in the IBM Blogosphere (the internal blogs) talking about the Myers-Briggs personality types, so I decided (as David did) to add my results here for the record.

I only tried the test on HumanMetrics and it says that I’m an INTJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging, with a strength of the preferences %: 78, 50, 75, 11). It gives also some links, but here I only include those to a couple of descriptions, INTJ type description by D.Keirsey, and INTJ type description by J. Butt and M.M. Heiss.
Here’s another one.

Now, the qualitative analysis says that I am:

  • very expressed introvert
  • moderately expressed intuitive personality
  • distinctively expressed thinking personality
  • slightly expressed judging personality

I’ll have to think about it more and then get to a conclusion. ;-)

The Lord of The Rings

Today I finished the book “The Lord of The Rings” (”El Señor de Los Anillos” in spanish, the 13th imprint but the Hardcover version illustrated by Alan Lee) which is the one that contains the three stories, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King.

I remember that a few years ago I got an email about a conference where the topic would be The Lord of The Rings and the Catholicism/Christianism, because this book was all about the Catholicism. I have to say that yes, it is. This book is a real piece of art. You should read it!

I definitely agree with Aneel

It was a coincidence that minutes before I read this weblog post on Aneel’s weblog I got a call from a bank employee; you know, those that are looking for someone and if the person isn’t there or doesn’t live anymore there they anyways want to get your name and offer you a credit card.

I respond that I’m not interested and they keep trying, wasting my time, so the following comment by Aneel is absolutely true:

One of the pillars of business–don’t waste my (or anyone else’s who you hope to have on your side) time. Ever.

I’m not sure if this happens often in other countries, but what anoys me is that the telephone number I got from Telmex (I guess it’s the biggest Telco in Latin America) was owned by other people. Seems to me that they had (or still have) all of the credit cards available in México because I get a lot of calls from banks and other type of companies looking for them (a married couple I presume). They perhaps moved or just changed the phone number, I don’t know, but is strange that they haven’t updated all of their records for the different banks and companies they have an account on.

I can even say that I get more calls from people looking for them than looking for me or my wife. Hope that with the time those calls disappear.

Who am I?

You already know that my name is César Miramontes and that I work for IBM, but you may not know what I do, that’s the reason of this post.

I joined IBM in 1998, just after I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering.

I spent the first months as member of the team that was responsible for the Performance Tools for AS/400 product. Then I was the responsible of the Display Hardware Resources (DSPHDWRSC), Work with Hardware Resources (WRKHDWRSC), and Work with Hardware Products (WRKHDWPRD) CL commands, and the Hardware Resource APIs, the ones that start with QRZ, and a couple of years later I was also responsible of the ones that start with QGY.

In 2000 I joined the Domino for iSeries development team where I was for several years the “install guy”, and was responsible of the Domino for iSeries APIs and the CL commands to work with the servers.

I’m still part of the team, doing development and support for the product.

With that said, I just want to clarify that I’m not an IBM’s spokesman nor my weblog is a support page. Obviously I’ll be able to help or clarify any issue that anyone may have. And I think it’s worth mentioning that a lot of things for the platform and the product are already documented in one way or another.

That’s all for now, hope to see all of you visiting my weblog more frequently, I hope to have time to blog more frequently also.
